There are a variety of ways to prevent HIV infection, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), post-exposure phrophylaxis (PEP), maintaining an undetectable viral load if you are living with HIV (undetectable=untransmittable), and the consistent use of condoms for vaginal and anal sex.

In addition to recommending the use of condoms and routine sexual health screening, other options exist to lowering the exposure to HIV. This includes regular visits to your health provider and routine STI screenings.
